16 July 2008 - New Director of General Insurance at Wesleyan
Wesleyan Assurance Society has appointed Andrew D’Arcy as Director of General Insurance. This is a new senior management position which reports to the Director of Customer Services.
It has been created to develop the Society’s general insurance business and expand the product range available to its core professional client base. Wesleyan provides specialist financial advice and services to doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers.
Andrew joins Wesleyan from RBS where he worked for over seven years in a number of different roles including Managing Director of Group Insurance Services and, most recently, Managing Director, Consumer Finance for Europe.
Martin Howard, Director of Customer Services said, “I’m extremely pleased to welcome Andrew to the team. He has wide-ranging industry experience and a solid grasp of how the general insurance business works.
He also has a proven track record of delivering results in a tight timescale, effecting strategic change and providing tailored solutions. One of Andrew’s first tasks will be to develop a strategy outlining how we can grow our general insurance business.”

Andrew said, “Wesleyan is a unique business and there is enormous potential to develop general insurance services to our niche client markets. We already offer access to some excellent products, such as a commitment to beat any surgery insurance quote by 10%.
However there is potential to introduce new tailored products, which will be of real value to our customers and to grow the business to a significant size.
“What strikes me about Wesleyan is how passionate the Senior Management team are about their work and the drive for improvement. I’m looking forward to being part of that team and using my own drive and passion to develop our general insurance services.”
Andrew has over 17 years experience working in the financial services sector and has also worked for KPMG Consulting and Zurich Financial Services. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
