Wesleyan Unveils Newly Refurbished Offices
Wesleyan Assurance Society unveiled its newly refurbished Head Office on Saturday 28 June. Staff, pensioners and their families were invited to enjoy a morning of activities and guided tours of the contemporary open-plan floors.
The offices now boast new facilities such as an in-house bistro, informal break-out areas, and extra meeting rooms with hi-tech audio-visual equipment.
Craig Errington, Chief Executive, started the day by cutting the ribbon. He said: “We’re really excited and pleased with the refurbishment. It will provide our staff with a healthy, positive and efficient environment to work in.
The Society is currently going through a lot of change with the expansion of Wesleyan for Lawyers, the launch of our new point of sale system and the growth of our sales force so that we can meet the growing needs of our clients in the dental, medical and teaching segments.
The refurbishment is one way we want to thank our staff for their hard work and support.”
Mr Errington was joined by 76 year-old pensioner, Marion Gray from Oldbury. Mrs Gray worked for the Society for 42 years from 1947 to 1989 as an Audit Clerk. She said: “It all looks fabulous. So much has changed.
I worked for the Wesleyan for just over 40 years and always felt well looked after by the company. Even today it’s clear how much effort has gone into creating such a lovely place for staff to work in.”
New member of staff Raj Bahia from Wolverhampton, who joined the IT division in May, was also invited to accompany the Chief Executive for the ribbon-cutting. Raj said: “It’s been great to bring my family and show them where I work everyday.
Wesleyan is clearly a company with a lot of heritage but not shy of change. I’m excited to come on board at a time when there are a lot of things happening and am really looking forward to contributing to the developments.’’
The Birmingham-based mutual assurer opened its Head Office building at Colmore Circus on its 150th anniversary in 1991. It’s since become one of the city’s landmark buildings and has seen many changes. This weekend’s celebrations marked a new stage in its history.
