Law firm assesses employment options
Law firm Simmons & Simmons is aiming to "take the fear out of retirement" by introducing a new career programme, according to senior partner at the company David Dickinson.
Industry magazine Legal Week reports that the firm is targeting those nearing retirement, which may include employees considering their IHT options, and giving them advice on careers outside of the legal industry.
The scheme aims to encourage veteran workers to consider non-executive directorships and not-for-profit roles.
Mr Dickinson said that Simmons & Simmons wants to allow people the time to consider their futures, which may involve them analysing their financial situations as they draw towards the end of their careers.
Simmons & Simmons has recently seen half a dozen lawyers leave its Dutch offices. According to Legal Week, one reason for the departures is the narrowing focus on transactional practice groups.
