4. About our services and general information about the regulation of Financial Services

4.1  Wesleyan provides a range of financial products and services including protection, savings, pensions and investment products from Wesleyan Assurance Society, plus a selection of products from other providers.  Advice is provided through Wesleyan Medical Sickness, Wesleyan for Teachers, Wesleyan for Professionals and Wesleyan for Lawyers, which are all trading names of Wesleyan Financial Services Limited, to the UK market place.

4.2  If you are interested in becoming a member of Wesleyan Assurance Society, please refer to the Wesleyan's Rules on Membership. Please note that purchasing a product from Wesleyan does not necessarily confer membership. Details can be found in the member section of this Site or found within the Report and Accounts for 2010 document. General information about the regulations of financial services is available from the Financial Services Authority ("FSA"). The FSA is an independent watchdog set up by the Government to regulate certain financial services and products to protect your rights. 9. Compensation

9.1 Wesleyan Assurance Society is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to claim compensation from the scheme in the unlikely event that we cannot meet our obligations to you. This depends on the type of business we conduct with you and the circumstances of the claim. 10. Money laundering

10.1 Like other financial organisations, we are legally obliged to collect and record information confirming customer identity and to report details of suspicious transactions to the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).

15.7. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude or restrict our duties and liabilities to you under applicable law including, without limitation, the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and the rules of the Financial Services Authority for the conduct of business.

16. Privacy policy

If you provide information to Wesleyan on or through the Site, Wesleyan will use it in accordance with the terms of its Privacy Policy. That Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms and Conditions and by using the Site you acknowledge and agree that you accept the terms of that Privacy Policy.

17. General

17.1. These Terms and Conditions (as amended from time to time) constitute the entire agreement between you and Wesleyan concerning your use of this Site and supersede any previous arrangement, agreement, undertaking or proposal, written or oral between you and Wesleyan in relation to such matters. Wesleyan reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. If it does so, the updated version will be effective as soon as it is uploaded on to this Site and your continued use of this Site will constitute your acceptance of such updated Terms and Conditions. No other variation to these Terms and Conditions shall be effective unless in writing and signed by an authorised representative on behalf of Wesleyan. 17.2. These Terms and Conditions and any disputes arising from them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.

If any provision(s) of these Terms and Conditions is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable, then such provision(s) shall be construed, as nearly as possible, to reflect the intentions of the parties and all other provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

17.4. Wesleyan’s failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms and Conditions shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision unless acknowledged and agreed to by Wesleyan in writing.

17.5. Unless otherwise expressly stated, nothing in the Terms and Conditions shall create any rights or any other benefits whether pursuant to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 or otherwise in favour of any person other than you and Wesleyan.
