Websites 'helping to raise life insurance awareness'
The awareness of professionals with regards to life insurance is being helped by financial websites, an expert has claimed.
Nick Kirwan, of the Association of British Insurers (ABI), said that advice sites were helping to prevent people from being underinsured.
"Anything that helps to spread the message among consumers and provide choice to people… has to have contributed in some way to helping raise awareness," he said, adding that "anything that gives people more choice about how they buy is a good thing".
However, Mr Kirwan also remarked that websites are only one option and if people are uncertain about what policy they should go for, they should perhaps talk to a professional adviser.
According to statistics from ABI, one in three people in the UK have not renewed their life insurance in the last five years, which means they are likely to be undercovered.
