How to protect your income and quality of life in the first years of your career
Once you start practising, being unable to work, due to an illness or accident could have a serious affect on your financial health. And early in your career you probably wouldn't have a nest-egg to fall back on. Of course there's the NHS Sick pay scheme but this only covers a maximum of 12 months. And then...?
That's when the Wesleyan Assurance Medical Career Protector can be a life-line.
Specially designed for doctors in their final year at medical school and the start of their careers, it gives you income protection plus access to specially tailored financial advice and assistance.

Things you should know
Cover
This is provided until the policy ends, regardless of the number of claims. A monthly income - based on pre-incapacity earnings - is paid for as long as the claim is valid.
Cost
After you have enjoyed the benefit of the free premium period, your cover will cost you no more than £28 a month during the first year of work. This will increase annually, along with the level of benefit, by 7.5% plus retail price index (RPI inflation) for the first five years of cover.
Tax
There is no income tax relief on premiums but neither income tax nor National Insurance are payable on benefits.
