Teachers interested in the property market as a way of making money, may wish to be made aware of one expert's opinion that increased storage space can make a home more desirable to buyers.

Lulu Egerton, spokesperson for Strutt & Parker Lane Fox, said the rise in the number of specialist solution companies in the market place proves that demand for storage is high.

"Space is the one of the most sought after commodities that house buyers are looking for," she explained.

"From skis to bicycles to linen cupboards, we all need as much storage as possible."

Ms Egerton stated that people are finding more ways to expand the space available, such as extending basements, creating new cellars and renovating attics.

One of the most common complaints from new housebuyers is that there is not enough storage, according to a Building for Life newsletter.
