Wesleyan scoops Chamber of Commerce business award

Wesleyan Assurance Society has been praised for its dedication to being an employer of choice after winning the Commitment to People Development award from the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group.

Judges made up of key figures within the Birmingham business community were impressed by Wesleyan's strong people development ethos and desire to be the employer of choice for staff, which is a fundamental and integral part of its business plan.

Wesleyan Chief Executive Craig Errington said: We recognise that our people are our greatest asset and essential to delivering Wesleyan's long term success. That's why we put so much emphasis on developing our own talent and have a development programme for all staff, from our apprentices through to Board members.

Our aim is to be the employer of choice for staff and attract the best people. To do that we must maintain our position of being the best in the industry when it comes to developing our people and having a fully skilled and motivated workforce.

The mutual financial services specialist, which has its head office in Birmingham, was presented the Commitment to People Development Award at a ceremony at the International Convention Centre.

Nadia Lycett, Jean Wood and Liz McKenzie from Wesleyan's HR team receive the award from Birmingham Chamber president Michael Ward.
