Rap jump returns to Wesleyan building for Birmingham Children's Hospital Fun Day

Wesleyan, the specialist financial services provider, will be hosting its first Family Fun Day at its Birmingham city centre head office on Saturday, 5 September as part of a campaign to raise £750,000 for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The day of activities will include a 120ft Rap Jump down the side of Wesleyan's landmark Colmore Circus building for daredevils, and summer fete fun and games for those looking for more relaxed entertainment.

The Rap Jump is the West Midlands' only forward facing abseil and attracted dozens of thrill seekers at the last year, raising more than £24,000.

The Fun Day is open to everyone and is part of the financial mutual's ongoing campaign to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital's Magnolia House appeal. This will provide a purpose built facility in the grounds of the hospital giving families a haven after they have received very upsetting or life-changing news.

Liz McKenzie, Wesleyan's Group Corporate Services Director and chair of its Charity Advisory Committee, said: "As the charity's largest corporate donor we want to host an event that will bring the whole city together to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

"This will be a fun day, not just for the Wesleyan staff but for people from across the city who want to support this great charity that has touched so many lives across the West Midlands and beyond."

Elinor Eustace, Deputy Director of Fundraising at Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity, said: "The Rap Jump was one of our fundraising highlights last year and we are sure this year will equally be a massive success. Spaces are filling up fast so if you would like to challenge yourself for our hospital in such an exhilarating way please join in."

Anyone interested in taking part in the Rap Jump year can register at www.bch.org.uk/rapjump.

Wesleyan is Birmingham Children's Hospital's largest corporate donor, having raised more than £300,000 for the Children's Cancer Centre Appeal and Magnolia House Appeal since the partnership began in 2013.
