Wesleyan leads £1 million campaign for Birmingham Children's Hospital

Wesleyan, the Birmingham-based financial mutual, is leading the fundraising challenge to raise £1 million for a new family centre at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The specialist financial services provider has already raised more than £250,000 over the past two years for the hospital's Children's Cancer Centre Appeal. Now it has committed to help raise a minimum of £750,000 towards the £1 million needed for the construction of Magnolia House, a dedicated area within the hospital that will provide a calm and peaceful environment for families.

Liz McKenzie, Wesleyan's Group Corporate Services Director and chair of its Charity Advisory Committee, said: "Magnolia House will be a much needed peaceful haven that will allow families time and space to be together to come to terms with what is, sadly too often, devastating news.

"This will be our largest fundraising campaign ever, but it is such a worthwhile cause and we are sure our staff, customers, and people around Birmingham and further afield will rally behind us to help Birmingham Children's Hospital hit its appeal target."

Elinor Eustace, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Birmingham Children's Hospital, said: "Wesleyan is our largest corporate supporter and we are looking forward to working with them once more to raise money for Magnolia House.

"The hospital, and the families who come to us, have wanted a facility like this for such a long time and knowing we have such passionate support means it is one step closer to reality."
