Wesleyan to offer remote advice to customers

Wesleyan, the financial services specialist, is offering customers greater choice and more convenient access to their financial consultant by launching a new remote advice service.

Following a successful pilot project, resulting in 97% positive customer feedback, the mutual business is rolling out the option to receive advice remotely using a screen sharing platform with a secure, encrypted internet connection.

Customers in the pilot said they valued the convenience and speed with which business could be done and the clarity provided by seeing documents on screen.

Samantha Porter, Wesleyan's Group Sales and Marketing Director, said: "Increased customer choice is at the heart of our decision to introduce remote advice. Once a customer has an established relationship with their financial consultant, they do not necessarily want a face to face meeting every time they want to transact business.

"Using the screen sharing solution, customers are able to see the same documents as the consultant which provides real clarity. We've had great feedback from customers who appreciate the speed at which business can be done and the convenience, including not having to tidy the house ahead of a face-to-face appointment!"

Wesleyan will use Vizolution's vScreen technology as a platform, which can be used with any pc, tablet or mobile device that has access to the internet. Customer and financial consultant see the same screen view meaning documents and papers can be shared.

By removing travel time, Wesleyan estimates that financial consultants could save up to 2.5 hours per meeting giving them more time to see more customers. This is crucial to the mutual's ambition to strengthen its hold within its chosen markets of doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers. There are also obvious environmental benefits.

Julia White, one of Wesleyan's financial consultants involved in the pilot, said: "Our professional customers are time poor so the option of going on-line to review documentation and make decisions really suits them.

"One of my clients was desperate to arrange a new mortgage. We completed the whole process remotely whilst they were in France, which was quick and convenient for us both."

Wesleyan employs over 340 financial consultants in its sales force.
