Wesleyan with profits bond again ranked as a top industry performer

  • Survey shows investment of £10,000 grows by 112% over ten years, compared to an average of 70%
  • Wesleyan with profits bond named top performer over two, four, five, nine and ten years
  • Bond exceeds average industry performance over all time periods in the survey

Wesleyan, the Birmingham-based financial services specialist for doctors, dentists, teachers and lawyers, has again been named as one of the top performers in a leading industry survey for the performance of its with profits bond.

The Wesleyan with profits bond was ranked top over five of the ten year time periods in the Money Management survey*, and performed above the industry average across the whole survey.

The results, published this month (January 2015), show the bond outperformed similar products from larger firms such as Prudential and LV=, giving Wesleyan savers some of the best long term payouts on their investments.

The survey looked at the 'cash in' value for a £10,000 initial investment over one to ten years. A ten year investment in Wesleyan's with profits bond would have increased in value by 112% to £21,188.

Wesleyan Chief Executive Craig Errington said: "Despite much negative press, with profits products can be an excellent long term saving product if taken with the right provider, as this survey has shown.

"Our with profits products are popular with our professional customers who are attracted by our specialist knowledge, strong investment performance and financial strength.

"We have always believed investment in quality equity holdings over the long term can contribute significantly to market leading payouts for our customers. Our with profits bond has the highest level of equity investment of all those surveyed still open to new business*** and we are able to maintain this because of our financial strength."

Wesleyan is the only life office to be ranked 10 out of 10 for ten successive years for financial strength in Cazalet Consulting's survey of with profits offices, while a report carried out by actuarial consultants Barnett Waddingham last year showed it also achieved the highest investment return in 2013 of the 43 with profits funds run by mutual insurers.
