Lord Mayor of Birmingham visits Wesleyan Head Office

The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Carl Rice, has visited Wesleyan's head office to see for himself the work of its successful investments team and apprentice scheme.

The Birmingham-based company, which celebrated its 175th anniversary last year and recently marked 25 years since it opened its landmark Head Office building at Colmore Circus, showed the Lord Mayor how it had grown from humble beginnings to become one of the UK's leading financial mutuals.

Chief Executive Craig Errington said: "Wesleyan may be a nationwide company, but we are intrinsically linked to Birmingham, having grown and developed here over the past 175 years just as the city has around us.

"It was a pleasure to show the Lord Mayor how far we've come and, more importantly, what plans we have for the future, not only with our business strategies and growing investments success, but also the next generation of employees with our apprentices."

The Lord Mayor said: "During my year in office I have made it a priority to go out and proactively meet companies that are playing a part in Birmingham's success.

"I learnt a lot about Wesleyan and its heritage and charity work, and how it is working hard to help young people in the city forge a career for themselves in financial services."

Wesleyan provides specialist financial advice and services to doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers.
