Wesleyan announces new Chairman Designate

Wesleyan, the Birmingham-based specialist financial mutual has appointed Nathan Moss as a Non-Executive Director and its Chairman Designate.

Mr Moss has more than 35 years experience in the wealth management, bank and insurance sectors and is expected to succeed the retiring Chairman Dr Bryan Jackson CBE next year (subject to regulatory approval)*.

During his distinguished career Mr Moss has undertaken senior executive roles at HSBC, Scottish Widows, Lloyds TSB and Friends Life.

He is currently a non-executive director at Canada Life Group and has previously held non-executive roles at One Savings Bank and Homeserve.

Mr Moss said: "Wesleyan is a financially strong business with a proud and successful history. I'm looking forward to helping it build on that foundation to continue its success into the future.

"The financial services landscape, and the economy as a whole, is moving at a tremendous speed, and it is our ambition to not only keep pace, but also to be a leader in our chosen markets."

He added: "Bryan has led Wesleyan through some of the most challenging years the industry has ever faced. I know he has the respect and admiration of everyone at the Society thanks to his combination of business acumen, openness and desire to provide opportunities for people to grow and develop. I'm looking forward to working alongside Bryan before his well deserved retirement."

Dr Bryan Jackson CBE, the former Managing Director of Toyota UK, has been Wesleyan chairman since 2010 and a member of its board since 2007.

Speaking about his time with the Society and the appointment of Mr Moss, he said: "It has been an honour to serve as Wesleyan's chairman for what will be nearly eight years. In my time here we've negotiated one of the most turbulent periods ever for financial services. I am proud that Wesleyan not only weathered that storm, but continued to grow and flourish while holding true to its core values.

"Wesleyan has exciting plans for the future and, between the future chairman, the board, the executive team and the dedicated employees in every corner of the business, I am confident they have the right team in place to deliver the best results for our members and customers."

*Nathan Moss will join Wesleyan’s board with effect from 1 July 2017 as non-executive director. It is anticipated he will become Chairman ahead of Wesleyan’s next annual general meeting in May 2018.
