Summary of Investment Products

We offer a range of investment products. Your Wesleyan Financial Consultant will be able to discuss the options with you, and help you invest in a product which best suits your personal circumstances.

Our investment products are designed for those who are willing to invest for a minimum of five years with the potential for long term capital growth and income.

Please remember the value of investments and any income can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest. Initial and ongoing charges may apply.

Unit Trusts

A unit trust is a collective investment with no fixed term. It allows you to pool your money with other investors, to access a wider range of shares or other assets such as property or bonds.

Our range of unit trust products enables you to invest in one or more of our professionally managed unit trust funds. The funds are designed to carry different levels of risk to meet the various needs and objectives of investors.

You can access our Unit Trust fund range through three products:

  • 1. Unit Trust Investment Account
  • 2. Unit Trust Individual Savings Account (ISA)
  • 3. Unit Trust Junior ISA

You have the flexibility to move your investment into one or more different funds at any time, which is known as fund switching. All fund switches for unit trust products can be made free of charge.

1. Unit Trust Investment Account

With our Unit Trust Investment Account, there is no maximum limit on the size of the investment that you can make to the product, and you can add to your investment at any time. You are able to withdraw the funds invested, either by means of regular withdrawals, or on a one-off basis at any time. Income Tax may be payable on income from the investments and Capital Gains Tax may need to be paid on any gains you make, for example, when you take money out of the account.

2. Unit Trust Individual Savings Account (ISA)

This Stocks and Shares ISA allows you to access our unit trust fund range through a tax-efficient ISA wrapper. You can invest up to £15,240 in the 2016/17 tax year with no personal liability to Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax. You can also transfer in ISA funds from other providers. You can make one-off withdrawals from the ISA at any time, or you can request regular withdrawals.

3. Unit Trust Junior ISA

This is a version of the ISA designed for saving on behalf of children up to the age of 18. Anyone can contribute to the Unit Trust Junior ISA, up to an annual limit, currently £4,080 for the 2016/17 tax year - friends and other family members are able to contribute to the child’s future as well as parents.

The Unit Trust Junior ISA is opened and managed by a ‘registered contact’ (usually a parent or guardian) until the child reaches the age of 18, when control of the account will pass directly to the child and the account becomes an adult ISA.

Unit Trust Junior ISA rules do not allow withdrawals until the child reaches 18, although it is possible to transfer the Unit Trust Junior ISA to another provider.

With Profits ISA

The Wesleyan With Profits ISA is a Stocks & Shares ISA which allows investment into Wesleyan's With Profits Fund, whilst benefitting from the tax advantages of an ISA. The With Profits Fund aims to provide capital growth over a medium to long term period by investing in UK and International shares, fixed interest stocks, property, cash and other related investments. The Fund aims to avoid sharp rises and falls by 'smoothing' the return on your investments over the period of the plan.

You can invest up to £15,240 in the 2016/17 tax year as well as transfer in money held in ISAs with other providers. There is no personal liability to pay Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax on investments held within an ISA. You are able to make regular tax-free withdrawals after five years.

For more information, please read the 'With Profits Fund' webpage.
