Wesleyan has been named the best in Birmingham after winning the Company of the Year award at the Birmingham Post Awards.
Not only that, but we were also awarded the Contribution to the Community award for the opening of Magnolia House at Birmingham Children's Hospital, our apprenticeship and mentoring programme and the launch of the Wesleyan Foundation.
This comes just days after we were named Life Company of the Year at the 2017 MoneyAge awards.
A Birmingham institution
Birmingham Post editor-in-chief Marc Reeves was glowing in his praise for the Society.
"Put simply, Wesleyan is a Birmingham institution, having been founded in the city in 1841 so we couldn't think of a more deserving winner of Company of the Year Award," he said.
"In what can be a cynical corporate world at times, it is also refreshing to see its charitable work given due recognition and to know it is recruiting for the next generation through its apprenticeship and mentoring programmes."
Group Chief Executive Craig Errington was thrilled with the awards.
"What an amazing achievement by the Society, and it wouldn't have been possible without every one of you! We've done some truly amazing things in the past year and this recognition is thoroughly deserved. Well done!"
We faced stiff competition from the NEC Group and engineering company ADI Group on the night.
Head of HR Caroline Hill added: "Our apprenticeship and mentoring programmes have been really well received and we're delighted to give young people the opportunity to develop their skills with us."
Jessica Wilkes-Reading, Corporate Responsibility Officer, thanked everyone for their fundraising efforts to help build Magnolia House.
"We should all be very proud of the hard work that's been put in. This will be Wesleyan's legacy with Birmingham Children's Hospital."
The awards, held last night in front of more than 600 guests at Birmingham's International Convention Centre, celebrated business excellence and achievement across 13 different categories.
