Help us build Magnolia House

By Jessica Wilkes-Reading - Wesleyan Charity Fundraiser

We need your support for Birmingham Children's Hospital latest fundraising project...

Our New Fundraising Project

Sometimes Birmingham Children’s Hospital have to tell families about a child’s terminal diagnosis or that their time is short, but as the hospital is old with limited space, these difficult conversations often happen in whatever space is available - offices, kitchens, empty cubicles and playrooms. The location where they give life-changing news is really important and can leave a negative impression in an already emotional situation.

This is why we need you!

We need your support to help Birmingham Children's Hospital to build a facility within the hospital that feels different to the wards and clinics, and is just for these families who need as much help as possible at a difficult time.

The hospital want to build a place where families can go and not leave when the conversation is over – a place where they can compose themselves, have time to think and a place where siblings and parents can come together for support and peace.

The new £1 million building, to be called Magnolia House, will be a calm and natural environment that supports families when they need it most.

The hospital sometimes has to give families life-changing news. They may have to tell them of a life-limiting diagnosis, or they may simply be having a tough time understanding their child’s treatment. The hospital understand how tough it is to hear such news and Magnolia House will be a peaceful haven that will give struggling families the time and space to be together when they need it most, away from the wards.

Having a facility like Magnolia House will allow families to sufficiently recover before they feel ready to face the world again.
