The Government's Power to Switch initiative saw 130,000 households change their energy supplier and save £38 million between them in the space of a month, new figures show.
Data from price comparison websites approved by Ofgem shows those who switched in the four weeks since the campaign began saved 193 per cent more this year, compared to those that selected a different company in the same period in 2014.
Those who use both gas and electricity saved £312 on average by switching during the month, 60 per cent more than those who did so last year.
There was also an 80 per cent jump between the number of households that switched during the four-week period in 2014 and this year.
Launched by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, the campaign encouraged residents to go to the BeAnEnergyShopper.com website, and 350,000 visits were made.
