Wesleyan offers to support Smethwick student involved in Student Loan mix-up

It has been in the news today (25 July) that a Smethwick student hoping to study medicine, has been unable to get a student loan because someone with the same name, birthday and born in the same area has already applied for one.

As a Birmingham based provider of finance that specialises in working with the medical profession – Emily’s story was one we knew we needed to help with.

Chief Customer and Strategy Officer Vicki Wentworth, said: “We expect Emily’s student loan problems will be resolved very soon, but we didn’t want her worrying about her A-Level results and her student loan over the summer. As such, we have spoken to Emily and reassured her that if her loan issues aren’t resolved before her fees are due, we will cover them until it’s all smoothed over. In addition to that, we will ensure she is covered on our personal income protection plan designed specifically for medical students and newly qualified doctors.

“Ensuring we continue to have a large number of home-grown Doctors entering the profession is vital to reducing the burden on the NHS and workloads currently being experienced by our customers. Everyone at Wesleyan wishes Emily the best of luck with her exam results and future medical career.”
