Hot on the heels of being crowned ‘Investment Team of the Year 2023’ at the Insurance Asset Risk Awards, Wesleyan's in-house investments team has also received the Diversity Award at the Wealth & Asset Management Awards 2023.
Held in London in early May, they were named "clear winners" by the judges on the night, beating off strong competition from some big industry names. The award submission was a celebration of the 24-strong team's diversity and the work they undertake to make the industry more accessible, regardless of who you are or where you're from.
Martin Lawrence, Director of Investments at Wesleyan, picked up the award on the night. He comments: “Wherever we can, we work to help remove barriers for those thinking of taking up a career in investments, particularly championing women and individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds.
"Our team members regularly get involved in a range of activities in support of this, such as taking part in external panel discussions for young women and non-binary students, supporting young black investment professionals by working with the CFA Black Professionals Group, or providing on-the-job experience to young apprentices looking for a non-conventional route into the industry.
"We’re very pleased to have won the Diversity Award at this year’s Wealth and Asset Management Awards, as it recognises the team’s work in this crucial area."
