News Release - Wesleyan joins Stonewall's diversity champions programme

Wesleyan has partnered with national charity Stonewall to mark its commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Wesleyan will also take part in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index, a definitive benchmarking tool for employers to measure their progress on inclusion in the workplace. One of the first tasks for the team will be to revamp internal policies to ensure they support LGBT staff and are considered best practice.

Caroline Hill, Wesleyan Group Director of HR and Corporate Services, said: "Wesleyan is proud to be an employer of choice in Birmingham, and part of that means having an inclusive culture that allows everyone to bring their best and whole self to work.

"But we accept we can never stand still. This partnership with Stonewall is an important milestone for us as we continue to further develop our diversity and inclusion programme.

"Working with them, we'll be able to not only help every one of our colleagues and support our team in all aspects of their life, but also share that message of equality with other local businesses and community organisations."

Matthew Moore, Client Account Manager at Stonewall, added: "We are delighted Wesleyan has joined the Diversity Champions programme and we look forward to working with them to help ensure that it's an inclusive workplace for all lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff.

"We know people perform better at work when they can be themselves and that diverse teams lead to more creative and productive environments. We also hope Wesleyan will be a positive influence to other organisations in their sector and region."
